Whether it is a cycle, run, or casual walk, the Lake Aquitaine Trail and Park has served for scenic views. Amidst apartment buildings, townhouses and the newly renovated Meadowvale Community Centre, this man-made lake has been a beautiful oasis for the Meadowvale community for more than 40 years. A tree planted at the beginning of construction symbolized the “city in the country” vision for the park. The project was completed in November 1977 and the 41-acre piece of land was reconstructed into a lake and parkland.
Today, residents can enjoy recreational activities, like fishing, in addition to all the amenities the parks has to offer. There are two soccer fields, basketball nets, and a spray pad! The 1.4-kilometer outdoor fitness circuit has six stations around Lake Aquitaine Park with several pieces of equipment. These six stations include equipment that focuses on cardiovascular and strength training such as chin-up bars, arm lifts, and a leg press. It also includes two types of equipment for people with physical disabilities.
The park has been a venue for memorable community events such as outdoor concerts, spring cleanups, and family fishing events just to name a few. Lake Aquitaine captures the heart of the Meadowvale community and this summer I hope you get to enjoy all that it has to offer!
